Freedom is such a beautiful word, a word that holds joy, inner power and infinite possibilities.
Seeking it has been an aspiration and inspiration for many.
Many people visualize freedom as a bright light and feel it as an indescribable joy.
Freedom is the light.
Freedom is the joy.
Freedom is the essence of creation, of experiencing existence and of our beingness.
It is the pulse behind all aspirations and ambitions, the common thread running through battles for identity, existence, and autonomy.
To be free is to exist, think, act and express oneself without any restraint.
Yet, despite this longing, freedom often feels like a mirage—a utopia we strive toward but never truly grasp.
Why does freedom often seem unattainable?
Freedom as a relative liberation
Is attaining freedom even a realistic endeavour?
The mere fact of wanting to free ourselves from something or someone implies a relationship with that thing or person, which proves that we are not inherently free but rather feel bound to someone or something.
In reaching toward release and freedom, we reveal our bond to that which holds us.
Can for instance, a nation declare itself absolutely free from its enemies if it recognizes in the first place having enemies or some people it needs to resist or fight against?
Also, won´t a perceived liberation from someone or something carry within its counterpart, whether the weight of governance, responsibilities or fears, such as fear of being enslaved again, controlled, judged, attacked, etc.
In truth, every such liberation is only a relative form of freedom, for as long as we resist embracing all that binds us to those who don’t look like us, think like us or resonate with us, we actually bind ourselves to those people or institutions by resisting them.
In truth, whatever aspect of creation we are resisting or not fully embracing reveals our lack of freedom but also our lack of full embrace of the One and only Self.
Therefore, searching for freedom through escaping from circumstances, people, obligations.. seeking freedom from fear of enslavement or fear of dependency will always remain a restricted sense of freedom because it will always be in reaction to something or someone.
True freedom is not breaking free from any external limitations.
What about breaking free from our physical reality and our body? Will this grant us genuine freedom?
The longing to free the soul from the body
Many people, the ones who maybe feel too sensitive for this world, or too spiritual to be in a human body bound by physicality and its laws, often feel they are restricted and limited by their physical body, which they feel can´t contain the totality of their whole being.
Some of them will spend their life trying to escape reality, neglecting their bodies, avoiding food, suppressing their sexuality, rejecting the monetary system and the material world. They may even hover on the edges of society, maybe wary of pollution or institutions. These are maybe labelled as sensitive people, artists, spiritual, geniuses, unconventional.. I believe anyone on the conscious path of evolution recognizes themselves, partly or fully, in this description.
The longing for freedom for these individuals stems from the idea or the feeling of being trapped within the physical body. They are usually aware of their bigger self and feel frustrated for not being able to be more in touch with it. They crave release and wish their soul could ´´escape´´ the body. In that search, they may unconsciously seek to transition prematurely or turn to all kinds of substances that alter consciousness in pursuit of this kind of freedom.
However, this form of freedom is obviously not liberation, and very often the person is led into an addictive cycle of enslavement. At best, the person doesn’t seek any kind of artificial substance or early transitioning but spends the rest of their life feeling sad and unfulfilled.
Both types of experiences stem from the longing to connect with higher aspects of the self and to feel the freedom and lightness that stem from those states.
However, both lack spiritual maturity and fail to acknowledge that the soul is not a victim or prisoner of the body.
Rather, the soul is the very force that calls the body into being for the purpose of experiencing life as a human!
Freedom: a reflection on interdependency
Additionally, while reflecting on freedom, it is worth reminding ourselves that we are all interdependent in this world.
We are all linked not only to each other but also to the Earth, the moon, the stars and the whole universe.
We are not separate from anything, and no action exists in isolation.
We are one with all that is.
Each thought, each action has a ripple effect on the whole.
Therefore, no one experiences absolute freedom unless that one is the One, the totality of all!
The kind of freedom we can aim at
If absolute freedom doesn’t seem to be an easily attainable goal, we can still aim at increasing our sense of freedom by learning how to raise our body frequency so that more light enters it.
In this spiritual and energetic endeavour, you will gradually get to understand how you create your own experience and how, in truth, you are free.
I suggest some steps you may want to consider for this process of liberation:
First of all, recognize everything that you feel you are rejecting or resisting: ideas, people, events, places..
Gradually learn to embrace all the above and work with and through the pain, trauma or fear associated with them.
The road towards freedom requires that you transcend the belief that you need to fight for or against anything or anyone and rather embrace everyone and everything.
Freedom starts by opening up to all that is and embracing it with peace.
During this process, you will definitely have to work on your beliefs by releasing the expired ones and rewriting new ones.
You will get to master more and more your energetic system, your thoughts and your manifestation process. Not an easy job! But the only true path towards freedom.
All of this will eventually lead you to manifest the experience you long for, realizing that you are free to manifest the experience you choose and who you wish to be.
This path of self-awareness and self-realization is the one that will grant you the lightness you are looking for.
(And if you are a master in becoming, you will know for sure that the highest level of spiritual achievement is a total liberation and a full communion with the One).
Maybe absolute freedom does exist after all..
That relative freedom we can aim at attaining while being a human by raising our frequency and freeing ourselves from beliefs (and even matter) is bound to the laws of the universe, right?
Yes, unless… we get to reshape those laws.. or at least the way they affect us by questioning the thoughts and beliefs we have around those laws and reality.
We might get to the realization that reality is truly malleable, as our experience of it is a projection of our mind.
The more we become aware of this truth, the more we will be in touch with our creative abilities and our freedom of creating.
Perhaps we will still think and feel restricted in our freedom of creating, and that we are not totally free right now, for instance, to move mountains or change the color of the sky. Yet, at some level, in some body of the One´s mind, haven´t we already created all that exists today? That implied making choices which are still manifesting to this day.
So, if and when our collective consciousness shifts and makes new choices, the whole manifested reality will shift instantaneously with it!
Freedom is who we are at our core.
Our authentic self is free.
Our thoughts are free, and so is our creative ability.
We are free by essence, we create freely, and we choose freely. It is all a matter of perspective.
Embracing the present as a door towards freedom
Finally, I would encourage you, rather than chasing absolute freedom, as it is not an easy endeavour, to shift your focus towards ways where you can gain relative freedom.
Instead of wishing to be as light as thin air, let´s rejoice in our physical reality and feel the joy of being in a human and tangible body experiencing this dimension of existence.
Let us rejoice in the freedom we do possess, the freedom to choose, transform and create our experience of life. This is already enormous and widely not understood or practiced.
Let us be grateful for all that we have already collectively created and achieved. And together, let us envision more people liberating themselves from this current density and jumping into a higher dimension where more light abides so that collectively we marvel at our new creation, the new golden era on Earth and together redefine our sense of freedom.
